3 Design Books Every Person Needs to Have

By ASHLEY ROSE MARINO

Is there a design element that’s just a bit off from your home but you can’t quite put your finger on it? Is a designer way way out of your budget?Do you need some more accessories in your home other than that one half burnt candle and geode you have on your nightstand?

It looks like you’re in need of a design book (or 3) to give you guidance and make your home look like a pro curated it. Design books not only have extremely useful information, but they can also make any bleak bookshelf or coffee table look instantly beautiful, too.

Below, you’ll find my favorite books that I believe absolutely everyone even remotely interested in design should have. There’s a book below for every taste, so sit back, grab a cup of tea, and get ready to be inspired.

The New Bohemians

Justina Blakeney

Justina is the owner and visionary behind jungalow.com, which almost single-handedly brought bohemian to the mainstream. Little did you know, but there are six types of bohemian styles, all of which Justina describes in her book. The photography by Dabito in this book is stunning and will put your Pinterest boards to shame. Even if you’re not a fan of mixing color, pattern, and plants into your space, the pictures in this book are so aesthetically pleasing to look at, that it’s worth the purchase.

Interior Design Master Class

Carl Dellatore

To learn the ins and outs of professional design, Interior Design Masterclass is your book. In Interior Design Masterclass, not only will you find gorgeous inspirational photos, you’ll find advice from 100 of the top designers in the nation and hear their take on elements of design.

In this book, you’ll find that traditional elements like scale and comfort are discussed, as well as non-traditional ideas, such as couture, fashion, and archaeology. Understanding that home design is influenced by so many things, this book will give the do-it-yourself decorator pointers on how to decorate any living space.

Domino: Your Guide to a Stylish Home

Jessica Romm Perez & Shani Silver

If you’re looking for a how-to on making your home feel like a home, this is the book you need in your life. If you feel overwhelmed and bombarded by advice column after advice column on how to make your home feel like you, Domino has your back.

Providing carefully curated and filtered content, Domino gets to the point and gives you what you need to determine your personal style. You’ll also have hundreds of full-color images of real homes to help you get your creative juices flowing.
